There had to be a better way than traditional paper and cheque-book for consumers to manage their bills

GetitKeepit.com was launched in March 2010 as a free online portal assisting households manage and budget their domestic bills.

The site provides its comprehensive service free to consumers by sharing in the cost reduction dividend that service providers generate from their customers viewing and settling their bills online. GetitKeepit.com handles bills from most of the major service providers in the Irish market including mobile, fixed-line and broadband telecoms operators, utility companies, as well as satellite and cable TV providers.

Challenge

Starting with a blank sheet of paper and the conviction that there had to be a better way than traditional paper and cheque-book for consumers to manage their bills, the GetitKeepit.com team devised a plan to enable consumers to manage their bills and important documents in a single portal. But how would they implement it?

Because of GetitKeepit.com’s revenue model it had to ensure its platform of choice supported a confirmed workflow with each biller for “switching-off” paper billing so they could realise cost savings. In addition, GetitKeepit.com wanted an architecture that allowed for a standard, repeatable approach to enable it to extend its range and number of billing organisations quickly and cost effectively.

Solution

Having surveyed the market for a technical solution that would meet its needs for light-touch integration, while providing the functionality to deliver a feature rich user-experience, GetitKeepit.com quickly discovered that there wasn’t a suitable product available. The experienced technical team opted to build new product that would enable it to deliver GetitKeepit.com on a standard, reusable and extendable platform. That platform became brite:bill, the leading interactive, personalised electronic bill presentment and payment (EPBB) solution.

Focusing on integration first, brite:bill was designed around state of the art middleware, which enabled GetitKeepit.com to easily engage a wide range of billing organisations, by interfacing with their existing online billing systems for account creation and bill retrieval.

Once the bills or statements have been retrieved brite:bill securely extracts the relevant data to drive the value-add interactive functionality provided on GetitKeepit.com. The solution supports the creation of a truly insightful user experience with cross-bill analysis, graphs and charts. Users can also view their billing history, create calendar entries, set notifications and initiate payment workflows as required.
